Because you look really cool when using them

In all seriousness though - terminal apps make using a computer more efficient. Here are my top reasons to use terminal apps:

• Speed - no heavy GUI-framework
• Efficiently - search a directory for files with a certain ending, but exclude some file and count the lines in the selected files would be very cumbersome in a GUI application, but can be doe easily in the command line.
• Customization - keybindings, layouts, looks
• Scripting - everything you can to on the terminal, you can automate
